Fiat 500e Not Heading to Europe

The Fiat 500e, which is making its debut at the 2012 LA Auto Show this week, will not be heading to Europe according to the automaker’s global brand head.

Launching in California in the second quarter of 2013, the Fiat 500e is an electric car variant of the Italian automaker’s compact car and sports a range of around 100 miles and is expected to sport a price tag under $35,000.

According to Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, the automaker will lose between $8,000 to $10,000 on each Fiat 500e sold, but is launching the vehicle to meet regulatory demands in some U.S. states to promote sales of zero emissions.
